...to sleep, perchance to dream...
I need some mommy help! Lucie loves her binky (paci). We gave it to her when she was about one month, and we let her use it for naps, bedtime, and church. Our ped told us that she's a big girl now and that we need to wean her off of it. So far, she is willing to give it up for bedtime, and Cheerios keep her occupied during church. Naptime is a whole 'nother deal. She will not sleep without it during the day. I tried sticking her in her crib and letting her cry it out, but she whined on and off for an hour. No sleep. I tried binky-free naps Mon, Tues, and Wed of this week, and they were entirely unsuccessful. I finally relented and gave her a binky on Wed, and she slept for 2 1/2 hours. We have a naptime routine, but thus far it is futile without the binky. Any suggestions? Is it terrible to let a one-year-old use a binky during naps only? If I do let her keep it, when should I wean her off of it for good? How do I get her to sleep without it? Thanks for any and all comments. My house is a disaster right now, since I usually use her nap times to clean!

She's lying. I was at her house last night, and it looked pristine!
OK.. So I guess it was clean last night. But as a rule, it has been more of a disaster than usual.
Oh. Okay. Gotcha.
P.S. Go look at the adorably adorable photo of my husband and dog on my blog.
OH wait I already showed it to you. Never mind. I love my husband. And my dog.

dunno if this might help
Personally, I don't think it is the end of the world if Lucy uses a pacifer at naptime and bedtime. I think you are doing good if that is the only time she is using it! And as a mom of a 15 month old, I say you do what you have to in order to make sure naptime happens! Isaac never really took a pacifer, so I don't have any personal advice, but I have learned that while I love my pediatrician, he is not the ultimate authority! I value his advice but I also know that one way fits all does not work when it comes to kids! I try to take his suggestions into consideration but then I use what works for Isaac specifically!
