Let them eat cake

A cavalcade of cakes

My first cake. (Made before I began my Wilton classes) Wilton's 3-D Cruiser tiered on a 9"x13"rectangle. Coconut grass and buttercream stars.

After week one of Wilton Course I. 8" square with buttercream icing, accents, and leaf tip border.

After week three of class. Pattern transfer of the Thrivent Financial (My husband's employer) logo. 9" round pans, all buttercream.

Class finale! 9" round with royal icing roses and buttercream icing, accents, and dot border.

As you can see from the photos, the classes are really worthwhile. If you have the time and the money, give it a try. You can sign up at your local Michaels or other craft/cooking store. Coming soon: a 3-tiered birthday cake for Lucie featuring a duck and lots of buttercream soap bubbles. I'll post the results, disastrous or otherwise.

I wish you luck on the next class. I can't make a rosebud to save my life.

ROSES, no problem. But ROSEBUDS... ugh. You'd think they'd be easier!

SUCKERS.

Wow, from where I'm sitting even the race car cake is fabulous. I desperately need to go to Michaels! Great cakes.

Thanks, Elizabeth. This'll be a great family activity! I can't wait until Lucie gets older and she can start helping me. I bet your kids will LOVE it.
