Sara yelled at me for not responding to her tag. She's scary, so I decided to acquiesce. The topic is Six Strange Things About Myself.
1) Every morning on my way to work, I pretend that I am auditioning for American Idol. I sing "Wonder" by Natalie Merchant for the judges. In my fantasy I make it all of the way to the top 24, but I get cut during the second round. I'm not sure why I don't make it all of the way to the finals, seeing that it is a fantasy; I guess I am just not deluded enough to think that I would win the whole thing.
2) My taste in breakfast cereals matches that of a five-year-old. I'm addicted to Oreo-Os, Lucky Charms, and Count Chocula.
3) I played with Barbies until I was in ninth grade. I had a friend over in sixth grade and brought out my crate-0-Barbies and she was like, "Um... sixth graders don't do that anymore." I acted like I was joking, but I died a little on the inside. I tried to give them up, but I would pull them out and play with them secretly for the next three years. To be honest, if I had some free time and a bunch of Barbies, I might still play with them.
4) I was in a computer club called the Mac-a-Teers in grade school. I made a bunch of Hyperstudio projects. One was called Operation Amazon, and it was about the Amazon Rainforest. The next was called Planet of Odor, and it was about recycling. The next year I did two; one was about computers and the other was an animated storybook. The final year, I made my personal favorite, "Bambi's Virtual Mall," which included a clothing store where you could try different outfits on a model. Four of the five projects won national media fair awards, and I got to travel to
5) I am really anal about my student grade book. If it gets too messy, I will throw it away and start a new one. It literally takes hours to switch everything over, but I really enjoy rewriting all of the names and grades. For some reason, I take delight in certain repetitive, mundane activities.
6) Like Sara, I still entertain many irrational childhood fears. I have transferred my fear of the monster/fox under the bed to the ankle slasher under the car. If I am getting into my car at night unaccompanied, I will keep my legs as far away from the car as possible when I unlock it. I then open the door, jump in, slam it shut, and lock it. I only complete this series of activities after I have looked through the window to make sure there is no knife-wielding maniac lurking in the backseat, of course.
I've got a bunch of entertaining student stories, but I'll wait until next time. Tags to Kelly, Sam, Brian, Students, Melissa, and Papa C.

Oh, Alli. I didn't know you were such a nerd in school. I knew you were a nerd now, but I didn't think it stretched back infinitely in time.
I want my own little pilgrim!
