the wishes, the hopes ...of the small band of true friends who witnessed the ceremony were fully answered in the perfect happiness of the union

The former Ali Bright's wedding went down this weekend. Good stuff. It was my first stint as a bridesmaid, and it was pretty crazy. Ali has all kinds of connections with cosmetologists, so I got my hair and makeup done for free. I felt like a movie star. Or a drag queen. Eh. Highlights from the day included the beautiful ceremony at a very ornate Orthodox church complete with chanting, crowns, and lots of incense. Dan and Jason’s alcohol-induced dance party was pretty hysterical as well. Dan's signature move of the night was skipping around the dance floor while waving his arms in the air with a vacant smile on his face. Jason's specialty is a floor stomp that eventually turns into a full-on Michael Stipe body flail. Some low points of the evening included one of the bridesmaids nearly passing out at the ceremony. (It was hot, we had to stand the whole time, and it had already been a long day.) Also unfortunate was the incident that involved my pick-up radar completely failing while some random guy hit on me 15 feet away from Jason. (The guy I've been holding hands with all night? He's my husband actually....Hey! Where are you going?) I genuinely thought he was just introducing himself as one of Ali's distant cousins or something. That's what people do at weddings. Right? Sigh.
In other news, I've got an interview for my dream teaching job lined up. (My dream teaching job, mind you. My real dream job is either a rock star or a scheming trophy girl for a WWE professional wrestler.) Today I go in to talk to the principal informally, and then if that goes well, I go in for an official interview Wed night. This job would be so awesome. Smaller classes, a Christian environment, and when I tell the kids I am going to call their parents, they would actually be concerned. (I'm assuming that since parents are paying so much for school, they would be POed to learn that their kids are screwing around.) Pray for me!

Good luck, Alli. You'll be great. The boys WERE funny at the wedding. Alas, I was in the bathroom during Jason's debut as a Michael Stipe impersonator... but I did get to witness Dan's Peanuts kid dance. It was a sight to behold.

Ten points for the Jane Austen quote. ;)
